Plainfield, IL Child Support Attorneys

Child Support Lawyers in Kendall County

Child support issues are often a big concern for divorcing spouses and unmarried parents. Child support payments are paid from a non-custodial parent to the custodial parent in order to share the responsibility for caring for the child. These payments are intended to allow financial stability for the child regardless of the marital status of his or her parents. At the Kendall County child support law firm of Goostree Law Group, we are extensively experienced in handling child support cases. We work with custodial and non-custodial parents and fight to make sure our clients’ interests are protected and all children involved are provided for properly.

Experienced Child Support Representation in Kendall County

In Illinois, child support payments are calculated according to statute set forth in the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act (750 ILCS 5/). The calculations are based on the payer’s net income according to the following guidelines:

Number of Children % of Net Income
1 20
2 28
3 32
4 40
5 45
6+ 50

The courts generally adhere to these guidelines rigidly, but there are some instances where special circumstances can cause the court to deviate in either direction when making child support payment decisions. Additionally, the court may order one parent to contribute to daycare expenses, medical expenses, educational expenses and extracurricular expenses. Our attorneys are experienced in handling child support cases involving special circumstances and additional expenses. We are also skilled in making sure income is properly declared for the child support calculation.

Child support is one of the areas in which changing financial circumstances can necessitate a modification to the court order. Our attorneys strongly advocate for child support modifications where needed and defend against such modifications where they are unjustified. Likewise, we are experienced in enforcement of child support orders, and we fight to make sure our clients receive what they are entitled to under court order.
